Current Opportunities


Duties: Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students enrolled in our Adult Education classes. Volunteers will support classroom curriculum and further develop and assist students reading/writing/speaking skills.

Details: This position requires somebody who is interested in working with English language learners. Must possess a positive attitude and good problem solving skills.
Commitment: Volunteers must be able to commit at least one hour a week for the duration of the Adult Education term. (Generally between 12-14 weeks). Tutoring time slots are based off volunteers availability schedule


Duties:Provide translation services to parents with students enrolled in the Quincy Public Schools system. Subjects have included but are not limited to: report cards, disciplinary issues, and school transfer requests.
Details:This position requires fluency in English and another language (e.g. Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, etc.). Volunteers must have strong communication skills and present themselves in a professional and clear manner to educators and parents. All meetings are to remain private and between the operating parties.
Commitment: Volunteers must be available during school hours (9am-3pm) and commit at least 2 hours per session. Interpreter time slots are set up on a case by case basis.


Duties: Assist with translation for QARI media, including but not limited to: press releases, posters, informational packages, etc.
Details: Volunteer must possess strong reading and writing skills in English and Chinese. The position also requires somebody who can type Chinese using Microsoft Word.
Commitment: Schedule is set up on a case by case basis. Volunteers can work remotely.

Event Planner

Duties: Volunteer will assist QARI staff and volunteers in the planning process for QARI Events. 3 different opportunities are present, 2 cultural festivals (August Moon and Lunar New Year) and 1 fundraising event (Community Banquet). Volunteer can participate in as many events as they so desire.
Details: Must have strong communication and organization skills. Must be comfortable working in independently and in a group setting. Volunteers should be comfortable working with adults and high school aged youth.
Commitment: This position requires volunteers to be present during planning meetings and on the day of the event. Overall commitment totals around 35-40 hours during a 3 month time span.
